Estimator Responsibilities
- Estimators are responsible for developing accurate and complete job estimates.
- The Estimator identifies project labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, written specifications and related documents.
- Conducts site visits and attends pre-bid meetings to understand the project scope.
- Conducts review and take-off of blueprints.
- Gathers subcontractor pricing and conducts scope review.
- Evaluate subcontractor bids to bid documents and plans to ensure that the full scope of work was considered.
- Calculates costs of subcontract labor, general conditions, and materials.
- Collaborates with the client to help them achieve their project cost budget through consideration of plan details, alternate material/finishes and building methods.
- Must possess a working knowledge of commercial construction documentation and pricing; able to read plans and specifications and translate them into estimates
- BS/BA in Construction Management, Engineering or a related field preferred
- 2 years of experience estimating Commercial Construction projects is required
- 1 years of experience estimating all trades of Commercial projects is required
- Needs full comprehension of drawings
- Proficient with computers, tablets and smartphones, including typing skills
- Willingness to work necessary hours to ensure all project estimating needs are being met
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with RFIs, Change orders, is highly preferred
